Thank You and Hello

OASIS members,

Thank you for the great welcome! It's incredibly exciting to be joining OASIS as your Executive Director. I appreciate the trust the Board has placed in me and am honored by the opportunity to lead such a dedicated team.

I look forward to bringing my experience in software engineering and open source development to grow the Open Projects program at OASIS. I am also committed to finding new ways to better support the open standards track and exploring opportunities for convergence. OASIS is widely regarded as one of the best organizations in the industry for transparent, secure, and fair collaboration. It will be my privilege to build on that for the future.

The value of the OASIS remote collaboration culture has never been more obvious than now, as our world deals with a global pandemic. Let me assure you that OASIS is exercising every precaution to keep our staff and members safe. Most staff (including myself) regularly work remotely. Our Boston office closed this week in compliance with state mandates, but those employees are now working from their homes. We are confident in our ability to continue to provide full support to our members without any significant impact or interruption of services.

Obviously, face-to-face meetings are discontinued in light of global travel bans, but since they have never been a requirement for OASIS work, the impact will be low. As industry conferences cancel or reschedule, we'll keep you apprised while we focus on promoting your work via webinars and other online methods.

In the days ahead, I look forward to virtually meeting as many of you as possible. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact me with any advice or insights you'd like to offer. I'd love to hear from you.
