Subject: [mgmtprotocol] Oasis mngt use cases
Do the following make sense as possible use cases? This is just a starter set, I've only tried to address the scenario configurations, not necessarily what the management application wants to do. Definitions: * Objects - the manageable entities. * Managed Object - an abstraction of an object or objects exposed through a management interface. * Management Server - Provides the management interface to expose managed objects. * Management Application - an application that consumes managed objects (could include reporting, method invocation, and events) * Management Protocol - the OASIS management protocol Use cases: * Management application uses the management protocol to access managed objects via a single management server. * Management application uses the management protocol to access managed objects via multiple management servers of the same type, each managing a unique set of managed objects. * Management application uses the management protocol to access managed objects via multiple management servers of the same type, where some or all of the managed objects exist in multiple servers. * Management application uses the management protocol to access managed objects via multiple management servers of the different types, each managing a unique set of managed objects. * Management application uses the management protocol to access managed objects via multiple management servers of the different types, where some or all of the managed objects exist in multiple servers. * Object provider wants to provide objects via the management protocol without requiring a 3rd party management server (similar to SNMP) Regards Richard
