Universal Business Language Ratified as OASIS Standard

Developed by the OASIS UBL TC, version 1.0 of the Universal Business
Language (UBL) specification has been voted on and ratified as an OASIS
Standard. UBL defines an XML library of business documents, such as purchase
orders and invoices, as well as a vast array of components that can be used
to construct documents as needed. Congratulations to members of the OASIS
UBL TC and thanks to all who participated in the review and vote.

InterOp Demos Showcase Open Standards at XML 2004

The XML 2004 conference will feature six OASIS InterOp demonstrations, 16-19
Nov and will be held in Washington, DC.  All InterOps will be held in
Johnson Room on the Mezzanine Level of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.

Tues, 16 Nov:
*11:00AM and 11:45AM -- OASIS Web Services for Remote Portlets - IBM,
Oracle, PeopleSoft, Sun, Vignette, and BEA will participate in this
demonstration of WSRP, which defines an interface and protocol for accessing
remote aggregatable, interactive, presentation-oriented content sources.

 *1:00PM -- OASIS ebXML registry - Adobe, Cyclone Commerce, ebXMLsoft, and
NIST will demonstrate the capabilities of the ebXML Registry in tandem with
ebMS, CPA, BPSS and CAM to manage a large community of participants in a
typical e-Service and e-Business system



Wed, 17 Nov:
*Every half-hour beginning at 8:00AM-12:00PM -- OASIS Common Alerting
Protocol - CapWIN, DMIS, ETeam, IEM, Warning Systems, and Kwasi Speed will
demonstrate CAP in a simulated chemical event utilizing plume modeling. 

*1:15PM -- OASIS WS-Composite Application Framework - Arjuna, IONA and
Oracle will simulate three Web-based storefronts that use WS-CAF to share
customer information.



Thurs, 18 Nov:
*10:30AM and 11:30AM -- OASIS WS-Reliability - Fujitsu, Hitachi, Oracle and
NEC will provide an introduction to the features and protocols available
through WS-Reliability.

*1:30PM -- OASIS ebXML Implementation, Interoperability and Conformance -
Fujitsu and NIST will demonstrate the ebXML Test Framework, which is used to
conduct remote ebXML testing for either conformance or interoperability.

Gartner Application Integration and Web Services Summit Will Feature UDDI
OASIS InterOp

The OASIS UDDI TC will demonstrate the UDDI OASIS Standard on Wed, 17 Nov at
1:00-3:00PM in the Osceola Room 1-3 at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando,
Florida. The live demonstration will incorporate products from IBM, Oracle,
SAP, Systinet, and UnitSpace, showing how UDDI allows them to interoperate
in an enterprise business scenario. The Hartford and Schwab will also
present UDDI use case studies as part of the presentation.

OASIS on the Agenda

16-19 Nov -- XML 2004, Washington, DC. OASIS will present six InterOp Demos
and five presentations on the work of various OASIS TCs. OASIS staff will be
at the Expo, booth 102.  Members are encouraged to stop by and discuss
current events and pick up their new OASIS member pin. OASIS members are
eligible for a
conference discount.

17 Nov - The Gartner Application Integration and Web Services Summit, held
in Orlando, Florida will feature the OASIS InterOp Demo, "UDDI -- the Web
Services Registry Standard." Patrick Gannon, OASIS CEO, will participate in
the panel entitled "Standards and Interoperability: Coming Any Day Now?"
OASIS members are eligible for a conference discount.
