Members respond to annual TC Satisfaction Survey

Nearly 200 members have already responded to this five-question survey, providing OASIS staff and chairs with valuable feedback on the TC experience. Respondents have the option to enter to win an OASIS shirt. All TC members and observers are asked to complete the survey, which will remain open through December.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Biometrics TC forms

This group will advance standards that improve interoperability of biometric data exchange in distributed environments, making biometrics more viable for multi-factor authentication. TC Proposers include Sponsors, US NIST, Booz Allen Hamilton,
3M Cogent, US DoD, US GSA, and others. Kevin Mangold of NIST serves as convener; a TC chair or two co-chairs will be elected at the first meeting, which will be held by teleconference on 12 Feb. All interested parties are invited to participate; contact join@oasis-open.org for details.

Members re-submit PACR TC proposal

All interested parties are asked to review and comment on a revised draft charter to establish the OASIS Public Administration Cloud Requirements (PACR) Technical Committee. PACR will develop a set of common, required functional elements and measurable criteria  that should be present in cloud computing services or installations employed by public administration entities. PACR TC proposers include representatives of Belgian SPF Finances, iFOSSF, and the New Zealand Government. John Borras serves as convener. The member comment period for this draft charter closes 31 Dec.

XACML REST profile public review begins

This profile describes details of web services that conforming implementations of XACML versions 3.0 and earlier must support for representing authorization and entitlement policies. The public review ends 13 Jan.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOSCA public review begins

This specification enhances portability of cloud applications and services. It enables the interoperable description of application and infrastructure cloud services, the relationships between parts of the service, and the operational behavior of these services (e.g., deploy, patch, shutdown)--independent of the cloud provider or hosting technology. The public review ends 13 Jan.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Security Services (SAML) TC approves Committee Specification

SAML 2.0 Asynchronous Single Logout Profile Extension 1.0 allows an initiator to indicate that it does not expect to receive a response from the session authority. This improves user interface interoperability in deployments where the identity provider needs to control the user experience during logout. Congratulations to SAML TC co-chairs, Nathan Klingenstein of Internet2 and Thomas Hardjono of MIT, and to all TC members.

SecureAuth becomes newest OASIS Sponsor

SecureAuth provides the IdP identity management solution that uses two-factor authentication and SSO for mobile, cloud, web and VPNs. It accepts an identity from either a manual or automated process, authenticates the identity, and asserts the identity in a secure, trusted format. This ensures that the correct identity is accessing an organization’s website and data. SecureAuth will be participating in the new CloudAuthZ TC.
