Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (ODATA-385) Overview wording suggestion

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ODATA-385?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=33387#action_33387 ]

Hubert Heijkers commented on ODATA-385:

Wouldn't that narrow the applicability of OData down to 'data services'? At least for me, hence I'm not a native english speaker, putting explicitly 'data services' implies this protocol ought to be considered for services like databases etc. There is much more data out there, some the result of mash-ups, some representing unstructered data, some 'data' that only consists in a transient form, that can be interacted with coming from services that I wouldn't necessarily consider 'data services'. Just my 2 cents...

> Overview wording suggestion
> ---------------------------
> Key: ODATA-385
> URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ODATA-385
> Project: OASIS Open Data Protocol (OData) TC
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: OData CSDL
> Affects Versions: V4.0_CSD01
> Reporter: Patrick Durusau
> Priority: Minor
> The opening sentence now reads: "The OData Protocol is an application-level protocol for interacting with data via RESTful web services."
> As a new comer that strikes me as odd because OData describes OData services with which I interact.
> Making me think"
> The OData Protocol is an application-level protocol for interacting with data services via RESTful interfaces.
> is closer to the mark.
