Subject: OpenDocument XML.org: case studies/deployments
On today's call, I'm hoping we can briefly discuss how we want to handle case studies/deployments on OpenDocument XML.org. Currently, we have three pages: 1) http://opendocument.xml.org/node/59 Erwin created a page in the Knowledge base for case studies, however, if we want people to add to this list, we should move this content to either the Today or Wiki sections of the site. 2) http://opendocument.xml.org/case-studies By using the Today section, readers create case studies on XML.org or post a description and link to case studies posted elsewhere. Each case study entry receives its own page on XML.org, and their titles are automatically added to the case study index page in alpha order. Other readers may comment on case studies, but can't edit them directly. 3) http://opendocument.xml.org/deployments If our goal is to provide the longest possible list of deployments (without much description of each), then this series of wiki pages might be the best way to go. We could list all deployments one page, or we could separate by sector as I've done. Readers may add deployments directly to these pages (so we're trusting they'll put listings in the right position on the page. Good seed content helps readers easily see whether they should insert their content in alpha order or by country first, etc.) This is the easiest and fastest way to create an amalgamation of deployment lists from other sites--something I know editors would want to see. We could also do a "See also" section at the bottom of each page for links to other sites that list deployments (by product, region, and/or sector). My recommendation is that we remove option 1 in favor of 2 and/or 3, so that these lists can grow. Does it make sense to have both 2 and 3?
