- Acceptance of today's agenda
2.) Spam Problem and recommended corrective actions for http://opendocument.xml.org
-- Carol Geyer, OASIS, All
Carol led a discussion on the recommendation
to set a 'new user' role for the site. The recommendation is as follows:
1) moderate first posts from all new
users, i.e., not publish them to the site until they're approved by a Cmte
member
2) grant "trusted user" status
to people who've proven to be responsible posters (so we don't have to
monitor their posts).
Monitors will be assigned to check the
activity of a new user. Rob, Bart, and Peter offered to monitor the site.
3.) Actions to improve content, visitor traffic, etc. http://opendocument.xml.org
-- Carol, Louis, All
Carol presented the site statistics
which the TC membership viewed favorably. Only the DITA site is doing better,
which is directly proportionate to the degree of fresh content they are
posting. Carol explained they have a program dubbed 'Soapbox', whereby
a member posts a new article once per quarter thereby generating interest,
traffic, and greater participation.
The TC discussed using the opendocument.xml.org
site to help promote awareness and education of ODF 1.2, particularly when
the formal Public Review process is initiated later this year.
Carol pointed out that the following
url provides the most popular content on the site: http://opendocument.xml.org/hof/node
4.) Review, TC Action Item plan: http://wiki.oasis-open.org/odf-adoption/OdfAdoptionTcActionItems
- All
The TC reviewed and edited the ActionItems
table on the wiki. Please keep track of your items, and move them to completion.
5.) OpenOffice.org Conference planning including ODF Track, ODF Interoperability
Workshop, etc. - All
The TC discussed the current status
of the CFP for ODF topics for the annual OpenOffice.org Conference. Rob
will be part of the OO.o team reviewing submitted abstracts for the ODF
track to help avoid duplication and ensure the best possible range of presentation
topics for the ODF track.
Don reported that the ODF Plug-fest
community has decided to hold the ODF Plug-fest on November 2 - 3 (Monday
- Tuesday) in advance of the formal start of the OpenOffice.org conference
on Wed., Nov. 4, 2009 in Orvieto, Italy.
6.) ODF News / Round Table --
All
The TC members participated in a brief
roundtable.
The meeting was adjourned.
