Better? How about simply omitting this sentence? ...because in addition (for example) CHOOSE can return a reference and INDEX can't. And the given parameters are in a different order. INDEX mentions CHOOSE in 'See Also' - isn't that helpful enough? It would help for CHOOSE to mention INDEX in 'See Also' as well (currently missing - hint). > > *"which looks as if Row is taken as the column offset into the > > vector" - needs to be put more clearly. > > Changed that to "which effectively makes Row act as the column offset > into the vector" for draft11. Better? Yep :) - could possibly put that into parentheses to clarify the sentence structure: "If DataSource is a one-dimensional row vector, Row is optional (which effectively makes Row act as the column offset into the vector), or can be omitted as an empty parameter (two consecutive ;; semicolons)." Or even: "If DataSource is a one-dimensional row vector, Row can be given as an empty parameter (two consecutive ;; semicolons) or can be omitted (so the second parameter is actually the column offset into the vector)."
