Subject: Groups - OpenFormula Specification 2007-02-08-dwheeler5 with CONVERT modifications (ODT) (openformula-20070208-dwheeler5.odt) uploaded

This is another update of the specification with _just_ the CONVERT
function updated.  No need to start editing based on this document;
continue to use the 2007-02-08 version until the next real update occurs.

This version of the specification is posted so that people can see what the
CONVERT function looks like. This version now includes all the various
proposals and discussions per the mailing list. It includes various
"ton"s, notes both U.S. and Imperial hundredweights (100 and 112 lbm
respectively) as permitted but by no means required, and includes lots of
citations justifying the text. It also includes a large table comparing
many different spreadsheet implementations, as well as the [UNIFIED]
approach.

This version is posted so that people can take a look, including any
UnitsML TC members who are interested. David A. Wheeler hopes to visit the
OASIS UnitsML TC teleconference on Feb. 14th to briefly see if there's any
collaboration opportunities; it seems prudent to make sure that we aren't
"stepping on each other's toes".

 -- Mr. David Wheeler

The document revision named OpenFormula Specification 2007-02-08-dwheeler5
with CONVERT modifications (ODT) (openformula-20070208-dwheeler5.odt) has
been submitted by Mr. David Wheeler to the OpenDocument - Formula document
repository. This document is revision #42 of
openformula-spec-20060221.odt.

Document Description:
OpenFormula is an open format for exchanging recalculated formulas between
office application implementations, particularly for spreadsheets.
OpenFormula defines the types, syntax, and semantics for calculated
formulas, including many predefined functions and operations, so that
formulas can be exchanged between applications and produce substantively
equal outputs when recalculated with equal inputs. Both closed and open
source software can implement OpenFormula.

OpenFormula is intended to be a supporting document to the Open Document
Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) format, particularly for
defining its attributes table:formula and text:formula. It can be used in
other circumstances where a simple, easy-to-read infix notation is desired
for exchanging recalculated formulas.
