OpenDocument TC coordination call draft minutes 2008-04-14

* Called to order at 10:05 EDT

* Rollcall

Rob Weir, IBM (Presiding)

Michael Brauer, Sun Microsystems
Oliver-Rainer Wittmann, Sun Microsystems
David Wheeler, Institute for Defense Analyses
Helen Yue, IBM
Ma Yue, IBM
Eike Rathke, Sun Micrososystems
Warren Turkal, Google
Mingfei Jia, IBM
Florian Reuter, Novell
Bob Jolliffe, South Africa Dept. of Science & Technology

Patrick Durusau, Individual

11 of 12 voting members being present, a quorum was achieved.

* Rob apologized for lack of an advance copy of the agenda.  After a quick discussion, the following agenda was adopted without objection:

1) ODF 1.2 Errata status update
2) ODF 1.2 draft status update
3) SC34 Plenary update
4) TC Liaisons
5) (time permitting) continuation of technical discussion on play/edit mode

* Errata for ODF 1.2.  Patrick reviewed  our approach with Murata-san of the Japanese SC34 mirror committee in Oslo.  This approach, an abbreviated presentation of the editing changes,  appears to be acceptable.

* ODF 1.2 draft.  Patrick said that he was ready to post a new draft version, along with an explanatory "Editing Principles" document.  This draft will be shorter (more compact) than previous drafts due to the restructuring of material and removal of redundant definitions.  Patrick urged all to read the Editing Principles document and bring questions to the next meetings.

- Also discussion of multi-part approach to ODF 1.2.  Currently planning on three parts:  1=Main ODF, 2 = Packaging, 3= OpenFormula.  Rob noted that SC34 NB's proposed everything from 3 to 9 parts for OOXML.

* SC34 Plenary Update -- Patrick attended.

* Liaisons -- Rob noted that OASIS does have a formal liaison policy, both for organizational as well as TC liaisons:

http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/liaison_policy.php#tcliaison

-  We appear to have a number of informal liaison relationships, with ODF Adoption TC, with SC34, and perhaps with other groups as well.  If any TC member wishes to formalize such a liaison relationship, please refer to the OASIS policy, and propose this to the list.  We can then discuss and schedule a vote on it at a future TC call.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:04 EDT
