Webster's dictionary lists "white space" as the standard spelling and another source suggested "whitespace" as an alternative found in computer science.

The hyphen version appears as part of an value name in 19.360, style:text-line-through-mode, value = skip-white-space.(overline, underline as well). 

Whitespace (no hypen) appears in the name of meta:non-whitespace-character-count and in 19 other instances of text.

I will correct all instances except for those in value and attribute names to read "white space."
