Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2372) 3.10.7 Database -comments on good practice - delete or note?

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2372?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=18139#action_18139 ]

Michael Brauer commented on OFFICE-2372:

I agree that at least the first paragraph should be turned into a note. I'm not sure about the second. But we at least should use the terms "evaluator" and "expression" instead of "application", "implementation" and "formula".

> Key: OFFICE-2372

> Components: OpenFormula
> Reporter: Patrick Durusau

> Fix For: ODF 1.2 Part 2 CD 2
> I have marked the following paragraphs in the current text:
> "It is considered good practice to define a named range for a database because it eases maintenance (the range can be changed for all functions by changing just one definition). However, the use of named ranges for a database is not required by this specification.
> Formulas may use different portions of a database by using different ranges, but since this often indicates a defective spreadsheet, implementations may warn when this occurs. Applications may support access to external databases as well, though this is not required by this specification."
> Should they simply be deleted or turned into notes?
> If notes they need to be re-worded.
