hi Patrick,
i think that "area" is a bad translation from German.
it should be something like "category" or maybe "domain".
in fact in OOo the UI term for this is "Category", but in the source code the term "area" is used as well.
but that still does not address the actual problem here:
the way that the value of the field is generated in OOo is that OOo looks at the filename of the template and then tries to find a template with the same name in its template repository.
the directory in which the found template resides then determines the value of the field.
the template category is not actually written into the file that is generated from the template, and it also does not seem to be in the template either.
so i think the value of the field can only be implementation dependent in this case.
i wonder if anybody actually uses this feature... maybe it can be deprecated...
