Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Issue Comment Edited: (OFFICE-2740)Needs-discussion: 5.5 Unary Prefix/Postfix operators

Eike Rathke edited comment on OFFICE-2740 at 6/29/10 6:49 AM:
--------------------------------------------------------------

There is no specialty with duplication, all unary operators work as designed or usual or ... you name it.
1%% is identical to ((1)%)%, ++1 is identical to +(+(1)) , --1 is identical to -(-(1))

To avoid confusion we should simply remove ", it can be duplicated (1%%), and it does not change the meaning of other operations such as "+"."
Of course it does not change the meaning of other operations, otherwise that should be noted instead.

Do we need to explicitly state that unary operators can be repeated? Isn't that just normal behavior?

> In the comments about the percentage(%) unary postfix operator, it says:
> Postfix unary operator % (divide by 100). Note that this is legal with expressions (e.g., [.B1]%), it can be duplicated (1%%), and it does not change the meaning of other operations such as "+".
> How is duplicating the operator (1%%) defined?
> Also, for the prefix operators (+,-), there is no mention of duplicating the operators, is this allowed, defined?
