Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2815) ODF 1.2 Part 1 9.1.6<table:column> ambiguity

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2815?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=19504#action_19504 ]

Dennis Hamilton commented on OFFICE-2815:
-----------------------------------------

I think the fact that it applies to "one or more adjacent columns" is important, and one of the attributes specifies how many columns.

It appears to be the accumulation of these that determines how many columns are explicitly defined for the table, however they might be grouped, identified as "heading" columns, etc.

[I am not clear how this interacts with the row being able to provide elements for an essentially-arbitrary number of columns for a given row, or if the row is constrained by the number of columns explicitly-established via <table:table-column> elements.]

> Key: OFFICE-2815
> URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2815
> Project: OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC
> Issue Type: Bug
> Environment: This issue applies to the location and wording in ODF 1.2 CD05 Part 1 section 9.1.6
> Reporter: Dennis Hamilton
>
> [See OFFICE-2813. I am using properties here as proposed there.]
> The first sentence of 9.1.6,
> "The <table:table-column> element specifies properties for every column in a table"
> suggests that a single <table:table-column> element specifies properties for all of the columns.
> I think it is this way:
> """
> The <table:table-column> element specifies properties for one or more adjacent columns in a table. Every column in a table has properties specified for it in exactly one <table:table-column> element of that table.
> """
