Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2839) 20.393style:writing-mode-automatic - misplaced text? see description

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2839?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=20334#action_20334 ]

Michael Stahl commented on OFFICE-2839:
----------------------------------------

hmm... but the two attributes are "connected."
if you move this to the style:writing-mode description, wouldn't you need to put in something like:

"The style:writing-mode attribute contains the current writing mode.
If the style:writing-mode-automatic attribute has the value "true",
then only consumers that cannot determine the writing mode from the content should only use the value of style:writing-mode."

i don't see much of a difference.

oh, and btw:
it seems that only paragraph-style can have the automatic attribute,
while the writing-mode attribute is permitted on other styles as well.

> Reads in part: "The actual value for the writing-mode should be contained in a style:writing-mode attribute, so that consumers that do not support an automatic writing mode calculation or use a different algorithm always know the actual value."
> Shouldn't this (with some re-writing) appear under 20.392.1, the general section for style:writing-mode?
> Or to put it differently, why does the attribute value become a "should" under another attribute?
