Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2884) 6.1.4 <text:tab> "A<text:tab> element reserves space from the current position up to the nexttab-stop, as defined in the paragraph's style information." "reserves"?

Patrick Durusau commented on OFFICE-2884:

Dennis,

I am probably one of the two people on the TC who learned how to type on a manual typewriter. ;-) And I actually worked on manual typewriters at an office place when I was in high school.

You are probably right about not specifying how tabs work. Although part of me wants to write that down on a sticky note and put it in my desk. In case some archaeologist finds it someday and it is the key to successful processing of documents with multiple tab characters in them. Maybe not, don't want to facilitate the reading of documents that use tabs for formatting. It may take centuries for such authors to get what they deserve but its coming! ;-)

I will just use Michael's (Stahl) formulation.

> Err, does this mean the <text:tab> element knows the distance between two tab stops?
> If so, that isn't what this says.
