Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Updated: (OFFICE-3349) chart:interpolationshould apply to chart:series

Dennis Hamilton updated OFFICE-3349:
------------------------------------

    Component/s: Needs Discussion
                 Part 1 (Schema)

Since this is being put on the agenda for a meeting, I restored the needs-discussion.

I guess the question we need an answer to is "what defect" does this address. It seems to me that it is a defect not to be able to control this at the individual series level. Or a defect in not knowing whether a particular style provision is effecting on this element?

But the use of "should" is odd here, Should it be "may"? Or should it be will, as in will have an effect if specified for such an element via styling?

MORE PONDERING:

On <chart:series> there is a chart:style-name attribute. I assume that includes a possible reference to a chart style having a chart:interpolation attribute, and that is clear from the rules for styles usable from particular kinds of element?

Should we be saying for this element that chart:interpolation style is applicable and will be defaulted in the usual way of resolving styles for a feature that is subject to the style? (Maybe there is a way to say this better concerning style provisions that have any effect on an element, whether by explicit selection of styling or by default.)

> 20.24 chart:interpolation says:
> This attribute should be used within chart styles that are applied to a <chart:plot-area> element.
> Since different series in the same plot should be able to have different interpolation property this should be:
> This attribute should be used within chart styles that are applied to a <chart:plot-area> or <chart:series> element.
