Subject: Re: OASIS Open Source Advisory Council Valuation

Hey everyone,

My $.02 (for what itâs worth) is that having *external* (non-board, non-staff) Open Source expertise is still valuable, as it keeps us at OASIS honest and grounded in whatâs going on in the greater open source ecosystem.

Thanks.

When first envisioned, the value of the OASIS Advisory Council was as a source of Open Source experience and expertise that, in general, OASIS as an entity lacked.

What is obvious, especially when looking at the slot of new directors, this is no longer the case. OASIS, both from a board as well as an organizational aspect, has access to some deep pools of FOSS knowledge.

So what value, exactly, does the Advisory Council provide nowadays? Why does it exist? What are the future expectations regarding the council? Basically... now that it looks like OASIS no longer "needs" the council, what is our exact function?

Cheers!
