Steve,

In the interest in general promotion and harmonisation of PKI would you
mind
distributing the following to members of the OASIS PKI group.

Please contact me if you have any questions on this request or the work
of
the ETSI ESI TC.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

Regards

Nick Pope Task Leader ETSI ESI Policy document maintenance

The ETSI TC on Electronic Signatures and Infrastructures is planning a
review of the technical specifications on Certificate Policy
requirements
(TS 101 456 and TS 102 042)(policy requirements for CAs issuing
qualified
certificates) over year 2004. This is to include a general guidance
document on the application of TS 101 456, as well as a revision of the
base
document to correct errors or areas where clarification is required.

Copies of the current edition of TS 101 456 and information on the work
of
the ETSI TC ESI is available from:
http://portal.etsi.org/esi/el-sign.asp

Input is requested from all those concerned with the use of TS 101 456
and
associated policy documents on comments on:

a) Further guidance required on TS 101 456
b) Issues that should be considered in any potential revisions to TS 101
456
and the associated TR 102 042.

The following draft documents will be used as input to this activity:
a) Draft guide on TS 101 456 based on a document produced by TTP.NL
b) Issues that have already been received by maintenance activities and
work
with other groups aimed at international harmonization of TS 101 456
with
other CA policy requirements (extracted from TR 102 046 ESI
maintenance
document)

A copy of these documents may be downloaded from:
 http://docbox.etsi.org/esi/Open/RequestForInput_TS101456_2004_03.zip

Note: The existing version of TS 101 456 and TR 102 042 will stand as a
document that may be referenced for establishing policy requirements for
CAs.

Responses to this request for comment are requested by 23rd April 2004.

Please send comments to:
   Nick Pope <pope@secstan.com>, and
   Franco Ruggieri <f.ruggieri@flashnet.it>,
     with Subject: TS 101456-RFI

Thanks
