Subject: Call for Participation PKIA TC [was: Set PKIA Conference Call Schedule]

Hello everyone.

I hope the con call schedule suits the majority of you, so we can hit
the ground running with the new PKI Adoption committee work.

You will have seen notices of a number of documents I have posted to the
TC website. These are not overly long or complex, so I hope you can
have a look at them. I'd like to 'shake things up a bit' with new
thinking and fresh approaches to the PKI challenges.

As new chair, I have taken the liberty of proposing a set of objectives
and target activities. I'd like to refine or debate these as necessary
on our first call; all feedback welcome ...

- Develop a small number of internal whitepapers with which policy and
strategy positions can be debated and refined.

- Develop and publish PKI position papers that de-mystify PKI and act as
source material for implementers and regulators of PKI schemes.
Suggestions:
    * regulatory issues
    * legal issues
    * interoperability, and
    * outsourcing.

- Increase membership of and participation in PKIA TC

- Develop a tutorial style workshop on PKI best practice of between half
and one day’s duration, suitable for presentation at IDtrust events and
other meetings.

- Produce a simpler version of the PKI Survey.
- Target 200 responses to the survey, worldwide.

- Develop and publish PKI case studies (target 10) drawing primarily on
the experience of PKIA TC and IDtrust MS members.

Assuming this set of activities is OK, then we need to get moving
quickly. Within the first two months, I'd like to see us ...

* have a number of volunteers commit to drafting case studies
* have volunteers start to draft position papers that we can review
between con calls
* use our own contacts and networks to try and attract greater
participation in the PKIA TC, and in the Survey.

Please let me know right away of any concerns or suggestions. And
looking forward to talking soon! Cheers,

Stephen Wilson
