In fact, that is NOT what all assigning_ templates does, look at assigning_identification, asg_org and asg_ref_data for instance.

However, you have a point for those templates that ARE similar to what you described. The reson they DO exist is that the role assignment is important and must not be exchanged with the use of the attribute "role" (or whatever the name is). Therefore, I think there IS a reason even for those very simple templates.

But maybe you could make your template a bit more functional if you added the Document_version and Document entities (at least) to it? Or maybe the Representing_document template? 
[The last paragraph said without remembering any details from the model, and without paying attention to any possible business needs, just as a tip...]

I'm just writing a template for Task_method_version_assignment. Really,
all it says is that you must classify the assignment to define the role.
In fact, this is all any assignment template does, and, if we need a
template at all, it could simply take the target entity and the select
type pointed to as parameters. I therefore suggest we delete all the
assigning_* templates and have a single assignment template.
