Subject: Synchronise work on DEXs and reference data between PLCS pilots and OASIS/PLCS

Title: Synchronise work on DEXs and reference data between PLCS pilots and OASIS/PLCS

All.

UK MoD and the Norwegian NDLO intends co-operatively to support the ongoing PLCS DEX standardization through OASIS by exchanging experience and results from ongoing implementation projects in the two nations. Contact persons at the parties are Phil Ruthland and Tor Arne Irgens respectively. Participation is open to other parties sharing the same need.

An outline specification of intended work for the rest of this year is attached to this e-mail. Formalization of the work is still pending financial and schedule arrangements, but in order not to lose valuable time, a preliminary technical workshop is scheduled for London at the end of September.

Basically the intention is that LSC, Eurostep and DNV, who currently are developing implementations with real product and support data, meet regularly under the OASIS umbrella to harmonize technical solutions with pilot needs. Any new and agreed findings shall be reported to OASIS. This idea received positive response when presented to the OASIS TC in Norfolk 3 September.

The Norwegian frigate project is in its final implementation and testing phase, expecting receipt of a major data transfer mid September. It is, therefore, assumed that this project has met and resolved several challenges of a PLCS implementation. LSC is conducting implementation of real data, and will inevitably have met several of the same challenges that DNV has met. Eurostep is mapping more generic data to PLCS, e.g. from TRILLS, and is also a major tools developer for OASIS. Consequently, the plan is that

OASIS partners are invited to support the work in and between meetings. However, progress is critical, and meeting organizers shall be conscientious of the need for focus and results. Working group meetings shall therefore be reserved for persons having PLCS pilot implementation experience.
