Subject: Re: [pmrm] the informal PMRM TC telecon today...

Susan, Michael, and All:

Another view is that we complete the methodology (identify each of its steps, flow, and guidance material) to its end-deliverable(s) first using one use case scenario, and then refine it using several other use cases.  We have shown how we can guide the addition of the PMRM privacy services to manage compliance at personal data touch points in business processes while incorporating the notion of context. Do we stop at that point or do we flesh out a bit more of the methodology before tackling new problems using other use cases? For example, we have not yet considered how to illustrate the customization of the descriptive PMRM privacy services to further illustrate any example contexts. To be useful, we may want to tackle the latter at some point - whether it is with this use case or some other..

On another note, after we have completed the methodology, I've raised the possibility of doing a validation step for the pmrm model and methodology by comparing with the HITSP Version 2.0 On-site Care use case business sequence scenario which has embedded security and privacy constructs. There are other steps that members might suggest. We can perhaps build a list of possible tasks, and assign priorities (ranging from now to never) and rankings (not-valuable to high-value) to them, to determine next steps.

I do agree that we should illustrate/refine the methodology with a range of use cases from different domains before we move to architecture design.

Best,
Dawn.

Susan raised a good question: What next with the Use Case(s)?

One view:

We are tackling Use Cases to gain insight and to refine

both the Methodology and the PMRM, not to necessarily

“solve” the Use Case. An approach to solutions will be a vital by-product, however,

for credibility. An architecture and the specific mechanisms for

implementation are still needed.

We should tackle several Uses Cases internally (Smart Grid subset next?) , see what

we have learned, revise the Methodology (and PMRM),

then we can decide how to formally “go public”.

Next week, Dawn will take advantage of an opportunity

given to us to make a BRIEF, panel presentation to the NSTIC Conference in Boston,

on the ‘tactics’ being used in the PMRM TC; ie, the Methodology and PMRM.

This is billed as strictly works in progress and the presentation is high level.

Our hope would be to draw others to the formative work.

Thoughts?

Michael
