Subject: Re: [regrep-cc-review] Kickoff!
Joe, Look at what you just wrote please! "other formats stored <snip> along with the equivalent XML format". That's exactly the point -and what if there is NO available XML format?!? And if there is an available XML format - why would we want to store the other binary goup - since we can't do anything with that meaningful!!! If the CCTS folks already think they have that "available XML format", then we are wasting our time. If they don't - then we need to realize that any non-XML gets either stored as a binary - or a pointer to its extrinsic instance. And we need an XML serialization system to actually manage the semantics. But we critically need to understand what those semantics are - so we're not reinventing XMI or UML, but simply providing a means to capture vocabularies of nouns, aggregates and logical core components. Then, these 2 representations would be associated using the registry association mechanism. Please tell me if I am missing something. <
