Banking Industry: Image-based Check Cashing Scenario

Situation:
Banks are under competitive pressure from non-banks. Banks are
responding by using check images as a means of reshaping the economics
of the check cashing process. The redundant cost of check processing can
be eliminated by capturing check images with banking metadata. Check
image returns and general exception handling can be done by heuristics
to further reduce the processing costs.

Problem:
How can a Semantic Aware ebXML Registry/Repository be used to improve
the image management and exception handling for image-based check
processing?

Semantic Components:
*	The Registry/Repository provides banking metadata support
capabilities for check image-based processing.
*	The Registry/Repository provides heuristics/semantics support
for exception handling.
*	The Registry/Repository provides semantics-based image storage
capability.
*	The Registry/Repository provides semantics-based metadata
support for audit and fraud detection heuristics.
