Subject: RE: RE: [regrep] Core Components Specification 1.8 Comments

Title: Core Components Specification 1.8 Comments
Suresh,

Thanks very much.  The "special things" that you reference are the very essence of the CC Review team's work.  We have complete a very detailed analysis of the CC spec v1.8, and are in the process of determine how the registry-related requirements in the CC spec (each and every one) can be met with our current registry architecture.  We are in the midst of determining, for those that cannot be met, what updates will be necessary to the registry architecture.

Regarding UID: Our recent discussions have involved Core Components and their associated entities (BCC's, ACC's, ABIE's, BBIE's, etc.) being represented as Intrinsic Objects in the RIM.  What follows from this is that any UID issues associated with registered objects will be "inherited" by Core Components and their associated entities.  We have been keep up-to-date on all of the UID-related discussions, and will continue to do so.

We plan to have a proposal to both the Registry TC and the UN/CEFACT CC team in the future - timeframes yet to be firmed up.  Stay tuned!

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

Thanks to you and others in the cc-review team for this excellent review.
During your review, did you attempt to catalog the "special things" that
Registry needs to do to support CC? The need for a UID is an example.
I am greatly interested in seeing such a list.

CPA has some needs for registry too. Business processes will be advertised
in registry too per eb architecture. Since registry is a central element of ebXML architecture,
I am wondering aloud whether there is value in creating a "ebXML-architecture support"
document (OK, I am not volunteering, at least not yet:-)) that captures what it takes to support
CPPA, CC, and BPSS "natively" using ebXML registry. Does the ebXML architecture
group (ebTWG) has any such document?

Thanks,

-Suresh
