Subject: RE: [relax-ng-comment] How to bind a RelaxNG schema to a document?
No, there is no standard way to associate a RELAX NG schema with an instance. This was discussed by the TC before the 1.0 spec was released. The document "The Design of RELAX NG" has a section that explains why from James Clark's perspective: http://www.thaiopensource.com/relaxng/design.html#section:17 Mike -----Original Message----- From: Jiri Jirat [mailto:Jiri.Jirat@systinet.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2002 5:00 AM To: relax-ng-comment@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: [relax-ng-comment] How to bind a RelaxNG schema to a document? Hello, may be I have overlooked something in the specification, but what is the standardized way or best-practice to say that document "a.xml" must conform to a RelaxNG schema available at "http://www.my_schemas.org/a.rng" ? Something like "<!DOCTYPE ... SYSTEM ... " for DTDs or "schemaLocation" resp. "noNamespaceSchemaLocation" for XML Schemas. A processing instruction?: <?relaxngSchema href="http://www.my_schemas.org/a.rng" ?> Or some extra attribute?
