http://www.osoa.org/jira/browse/ASSEMBLY-140Agenda:
1. Resume meeting/roll/agenda
2. Continue discussion
Towards the end of the last meeting, Mike Edwards enumerated 4 points (they are in the minutes).
Lets drill down on these.
Four concepts involved with Event Processing, different from service handling:1. Channels (a pub/sub mechanism)
2) Filters (the ability not to receive messages unless of a given nature)
3) Matching rules between Producer and Consumer (different from services)
4) Mapping of Artifact interfaces to Consumer and Producer
3. AOB

New Issues relating to the spec
Booz represents Koenig's new issue
Resolution: m:Booz s:Karmarkar Assembly-192 opened w/o
Resolution: m:Booz s:Combellack Resolve Assembly-192 with the proposal in Jira
Spec Issues with Proposals
Booz:
I sent an email recently about this one , my email contains a link the policy set attachmnt a well as the resqures element
as a proposal for this issue
...this is a directional, not a specific proposal
<anish>
attributes are easier, but lack capabilities. Elements are slightly harder (few more <>), but have more capability. Allowing
both seems like having best of both worlds, but actually complicates things because now you have two ways of saying the same
thing
Motion: m:Booz s:Kand Resolve to agree to the directional proposal suggested in the Jira with the adition of the new requires element
that Policy generated
Resolution: m:Booz s:Kand Resolve to agree to the directional proposal suggested in the Jira with the adition of the new requires element
that Policy generated
Action: Edwards to produce a detailed proposal to implement the directional resolution to Assembly-188
<gilbert.pilz>
+1 - two ways are generally worse than one
Edwards:
Perhaps we ought to wait while policy resolves this and then do our bit.
...there is nor formal proposal at the moment and we seem to not be able to resolve it now
Action: Malhotra to produce a proposal for the resolution of Assembly-189
<anish>
what about optionality? Optionality of features in assembly that may not be supported in a particular language?
Action: Patil to produce a new set of words for resolution to Assembly-132
<jeff.mischkinsky>
i think if we don't require "out of the box" interop for SCA that will be the death knell for SCA
<Sanjay>
I also think that OASIS should think about providing a IP framework for derivative works (which is not generally applicable
to specs but is common for code e.g. test suite - a new territory for OASIS)
<jeff.mischkinsky>
sanjay -- i think the issue with that may be (IANAL and i haven't thought it through) requiring non OASIS members to do anything
<jeff.mischkinsky>
sanjay: the chair of the oasis ipr comm is on the call - how convenient
<jeff.mischkinsky>
and sad for bob ;-)
Eventing
Edwards reviews the four "concept" points in the agenda
Channels - a pub/sub mechanism
A producer is connected to a channel which is also connected to by consumers thus connecting a multiplexing mechansim
there is no specific producer to consumer connection
the set of producers and the consumers may change over time
<Mike Edwards>
I think that we're trying to run before we've got ourselves walking here
<anish>
i think, to enable that sort of usecase, discovery is key. And I'm not sure if we would come to an agreement wrt standardizing
a discovery mechanism. At least not in a reasonable timeframe. Perhaps we should take a step by step approach as suggested
by Mike (learn to walk before running).
Filters
services typically are not filtered, but that is expected in the case of eventing
matching rules
A consumer may match a subset, a superset or perhaps none of the events generated by a producer
matching of Artifact intercaces to consumer and Producer
Those mappings meed to be defined and may take different forms in the case of eventing
<Dale Moberg>
I plan to attend. Dale
<anish>
scott, will you be sending the tibco proposal in advance of the f2f?
<jeff.mischkinsky>
i will attend
<anish>
we should look at the W3C WSRA WG which is standardizing WS-Eventing for direction on this
<anish>
they are also worried about some of the same issues
Bob:
Yes, Anish we are :-)
AOB
Next meeting will be the face to face on Dec 1
