Subject: [sca-j] [NEW ISSUE]
Remove the use of componentType side files from the Java C&I specification
Raiser:
Mike Edwards
Target:
sca-javaci-1.1-spec-wd02.doc
Description
All
the features relevant to the componentType of a Java POJO implementation can be
derived from introspection,
as
described in Section 8 of the Java C&I specification.
Section
10 of the C&I specification suggests that it is also possible to derive
aspects of the componentType from a
side
file. However, this section indicates that the merging of information
from the side file with the introspected
information
is defined by the SCA Assembly specification. This is not so and the
Assembly TC voted a resolution
that
put the burden of describing the use of componentType side files squarely on
the shoulders of the implementation
TCs.
In
addition, there is a recommendation from the SCA Liaison committee that EITHER
componentType information
is
derived from introspection or is derived entirely from a componentType side
file - but that combining information
from
these two sources is not recommended and that an implementation type should
choose to do one or the other.
This
issue is raised to remove the complexity of merging componentType side file
metadata with introspected
componentType
information.
Proposal
Remove
Section 10 of the specification.
Yours, Mike.
