Hi Everyone, As chair, I want to try to resolve issues. Personally, I think of voting as a sort of last resort, after attempts to achieve consensus fail. In the case of issue 119, it's been on the table for months, seems to have support from most members, and, above all, there hasn't been any movement for weeks, now. If we feel that there is a chance for consensus, or, more importantly, for mixing in new ideas and finding new solutions, thereby making SDO 3 stronger and better, then of course it's better to wait. The questions are interesting... If I recall, I made a proposal for unifying projection and binding, to which you earlier expressed opposition. Or I thought you did. In any case, I also feel the concepts are related and should be unified. But I don't think we have a chance of getting a resolution of 135 before the CD. It's important that the CD hang together, and I think we need 119 for that. Right now, the projection algorithm matches by name only. It could be that we need to make this a little more precise when considering that property names may not necessarily be unique. It's also possible that we can say that projection, like static SDO generation, has some additional constraints, such as name uniqueness. Later today we will be sending out a proposal that addresses these issues through SDO path enhancements. As a result. we would prefer to delay a vote on SDO-119. Regarding projection (from the EclipseLink perspective), below are some issues/items we are considering: * What is the impact of relaxing the SDO name uniqueness requirement on projection? * What is the impact of SDO-82 on projection? * Is SDO-119 useful without an identity concept? Currently my thinking is that identity management is required here. * Alignment with SDO-135. I believe the spirit of SDO-119 & projection in general is to enable alignment with other standards.
