Subject: Groups - Search WS TC Call modified
Minutes added. -- Ray Denenberg Search WS TC Call has been modified by Ray Denenberg Date: Thursday, 17 January 2008 Time: 09:00am - 10:00am ET Event Description: Toll-free number: 888-448-7101 International Dial-In: See http://www.intercall.com/sprintservices/SPCIntlAccessNumber.pdf Participant code:7646073 Host: Ralph Agenda: 1. Role call 2. Review draft core spec revision http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/search-ws/download.php/26816/sws-core-1-15.doc 3. Other core functions. e.g. Facets? 4. SRU 1.2 5. SRU 2.0 6. openSearch 7. ATOM 8. Description language 9. Next steps 10. Next Meeting 11. Any other business Minutes: 1. Role call Present: Rob, Ray, Larry, Ralph, Ashley, Jan. Quorum. 2. Review draft core spec revision The annotated draft we discussed is: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/search-ws/download.php/26816/sws-core-1-15.doc Decisions: - We will in general and where practical use the term item rather than record in the core spec. Thus for example, Maximum Number of Items rather than Maximum number of Records. Profiles are free to change parameter names, so for example SRU 1.2 can continue to refer to records and can keep its parameter names the same. Response Format will become Response Type, e.g. 'text/html', 'application/xhtml+xml', application/xml, application/atom+xml , application/x-sru. - For the parameter Query, the abstract parameter name will be query rather than searchTerms. - Start Record will become Start Position. - Maximum Number of Records becomes Maximum number of Items. - Record Packing parameter eliminated. - Item Type replaces Record Schema. e.g. string, jpeg, dc, iso2709. It is a value from the list provided by the server. - Result Set Time to Live parameter eliminated. - Sort Order parameter added. So the request parameters at this point are: - Response Type - Query - Start Position - Maximum Number of Items - Item Type - Sort Order The response parameters: - Number of Items - Result Set Identifier - Items - Next Position - Diagnostics - Echoed Request 3. Other core functions. e.g. Facets Jan will write up something about facets. It is not clear that it should be a core function, perhaps it will be for SRU 2.0. 4. SRU 1.2 Ray will continue as editor for SRU 1.2 5. SRU 2.0 Rob will take the lead on SRU 2.0. 6. openSearch It is unclear whether Farrukh will remain a member of the committee; he had volunteered as editor of the openSearch binding. If he does not remain a member, Ray will take on that responsibility, unless someone else volunteers. 7. ATOM Similarly Farrukh had volunteered as editor of the ATOM binding. It isnt entirely clear if an ATOM binding is necessary, or if it is, how urgently. Matthew would be the appropriate member to do this if Farrukh doesnt remain on the committee. Matthew is not on the call. Ray will email him about this. 8. Description language Ashley and Ralph will collaborate on this. 9. Next steps We would like to have a Committee Draft of the Core Spec and SRU 1.2 Profile within two months, i.e. by late March. 10. Other. Ralph is interested in seeing if the Solar Flare community might be interested in our work. Ralph will contact them. 11. Next Meeting January 31. This event is one in a list of recurring events.
