Subject: [security-jc] joint OASIS/W3C forum on security for web services
OASIS and W3C will be cosponsoring a joint "Forum on Security Standards for Web Services", to be held 26 August at the web services conference in Boston http://www.xmlconference.com/boston/glance.asp Krishna has started work on a conference program, and the folks at W3C are also preparing their version of a program. We need a program committee to combine these two versions into a single conference program, then help recruit speakers. The idea of the forum is to present a rough architecture of where we are with security for web services, look at the individual pieces and how they fit together, then identify holes in the picture which could possibly result in new work for either OASIS or W3C. We need to select 4-5 people to represent OASIS on a program committee ASAP. We need to move fairly quickly; the conference is in less than seven weeks. It would probably be best for the TAB to select the program committee (this is, after all, officially a TAB activity), and the next TAB meeting is this Friday. Then we can have the first committee meeting next week, with the goal of having a completed program the week after. W3C will also have representatives on the program committee; the following have been suggested and will likely be involved: Hugo Haas, Joe Regal, Michael Sperberg-McQueen, Danny Weitzner, and Janet Daly. Please send me nominations/volunteers by EOD Thursday, and I'll give the names to the TAB to select from on Friday. many thanks. </karl> ================================================================= Karl F.
