Subject: Re: [soa-rm-ra] SOA repositioning - from QCon-2009
Hi Folks,
I just returned from the International QCon-2009 conference organised in
1) SOA becomes a commodity - very few announce SOA involvement but refer to it
as to a regular ‘thing’
2) it appeared as a common conclusion that Web Services and ESB are quite
inconvenient tools and require significant modifications
3) the reason for 2) is in that everybody talked about business 'change' and
change adoption using service-oriented means (RA can be a strong player in this
area)
4) many have reached the understanding about service description and services
contract that is quite close to the related RA definitions
5) many started to talk about tasks for SO solutions and pointed to the
business (vs. IT in the past) as the source of them
6) some even referred to execution context. The major contributor in this area
were additions brought by Eric Evans for Domain-Driven Design ( I supported him
with Domain Service-Oriented Modelling DOSOM)
All together, this sounded very similar to the business-oriented consumer-centric
SOA
Thank you for your attention,
- Michael
