Subject: RE: [soa-rm] Resolution for Issue #520
Having not attended the 5 April (apologetically), I believe Peter's words captures the essence of intent regarding cardinality. This will eliminate any confusion concerning multiple organizations (service providers) with copies of the implementing service code that could be invoked by different sets of service consumers." Proposed resolution: -Re-word line 264 to read: "...A service is provided by an [delete 'one'] entity - the service provider..." -Explanation to submitter: "This was discussed at the committee meeting of 5 April and it was agreed that there was room for possible misunderstanding: the reference to 'one entity' - in the phrase 'A service is provided by one entity' - is not meant to imply any cardinality (one, rather than more, entity). "The Reference Model deliberately avoids cardinality, as it is concerned with the abstract concept of a service rather than any particular specific instance. "For example, a 'file download service' would be seen by the RM as a single service, even if it is implemented as a series of mirror sites that each provides a tangible 'service'. "To clarify the text, we propose to change it to..." Peter
