Subject: RE: [soa-rm] Microsoft SOA Reference Model

The reality is that any vendor's implementation of a SOA RA will map to their technology solutions. Their RA will definitely be closer to the metal than what we would want and it would be unrealistic of us to expect otherwise. While Microsoft does not push the "SOA" moniker to a great extent, they do have a vision around Service Orientation as articulated by their "Connected Systems" strategy. From what I can see, especially if you looking to link up human based workflow into a SO solution, they probably have the most clearly articulated and functional solution (in the current timeframe).

What would be worthwhile, IMHO, is to see if we can get input/participation from the vendors around normalizing some of the terminology around Service Orientation. So that at the minimum, when we call the pot black, we know that we are talking about a cooking utensil and not the "I didn't inhale" variety :-)

Regards,

- Anil
