Subject: RE: [tm-pubsubj] Error in Introduction and Basic Requirements?
| I would prefer to distinguish between "published subject indicators" and | "published subject identifiers" but my understanding was that the | committee wanted both to be identified as PSIs. Note that PSID is also | used in section 3. Requirements and Recommendations for PSIs. At some point the committee majority changed its mind on the acronym "PSI" and instructed me to use "PSID" for Published Subject Identifier. Personally I would have preferred to stick with a single acronym that expanded to either. The one-to-one relationship between PS indicator and PS identifier means that in most cases the distinction simply doesn't matter (rather as you can often use 'subject' and 'topic' interchangeably). In the few cases that the distinction *is* important we could simply avoid the acronym.
