Subject: Re: [xtm-wg] Questions about the Charter

It would seem that we could all get to the interesting, ie technical
issues in Paris if we could come to as much consensus as possible
beforehand via email. So I'm going to throw in my $0.02 and me-toos for
all of Steve's points.

Yes.

There was also an idea (I don't recall where expressed) also bootstrap
members on the basis of significant contributions to the literature.

Since "significant" is a pretty vague term, I propose that the editors
of the TNM standard submit names to be bootstrapped into membership on
the basis of significant contributions to the literature, to be cited;
that the WG vote the proposed names up or down; and that a given name
can be proposed only once.

Actually, this strikes me (with apologies to John LeCarre) as a sort of
"Was Christ born on Christmas Day?" sort of discussion.... I'd propose
amend 5.14 to "co-chair (currently [name])".

If the current process of appointment is not well documented, figuring
it out could really hang us up.

Agreed.

Excellent point. Does an ISO guru know if there is relevant language in
the ISO world that we could adopt?
