This is a huge selling point in terms of simplicity, and also gets
points in the "plays well with others" category...

However--

Murray (or someone), educate me. Here's a quote from the XPointer CR:

Is XPointer so oriented to tree structures that it is subtoptimal for
XTM's more graph-like structures? OTOH, could the "XTMQL document" of
which you speak be a reference implemenation, leaving optimizations up
to vendors?
