Subject: RE: [xtm-wg] FW: Semantic Web
Actually, the Semantic Web activity is not as "topic-less" as Chris seems to imply. The "Activity Statement" at http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/Activity includes the following: "The ISO Topic Map (XTM) community has been finding increasing synergy with the RDF data model. We are hopeful that the markup language background of the Topic Map community will suggest syntax alternatives for graph-oriented data that can be considered for incorporation into RDF and that RDF will be seen to be usable for Topic Map data as well." Two interesting slips here are to equte ISO Topic Map with XTM, and that the hyperlink on the "XTM" is not to the TopicMaps.org website, but to this email group! Perhaps we'll get some additional subscribers to this list as a result. Eric Miller has been named as Activity lead, and the activity is chartered till 2003. The Activity Statement is certainly worth a read. It seems a very topic-less (subject-less?) semantic web at present!
