I'll be posting a Technical Report soon outlining a method for incorporating notation-based data within a topic map, based on the XML Schema Datatypes specification. The TR will include a topic map declaring PSIs for all XML Schema datatypes, providing the functionality you describe, given that XML Schema datatypes include the ability to express dates and times. The TR will also include a description of how to declare your own customized datatypes, such as programming languages, so that Java or Javascript code could be included within a CDATA section, e.g., in a <variant> element using "http://...Java" as a <parameter> scope. The above-described TR will be announced on this list, so stay tuned. I hope to have a first draft ready by mid-next week.
