Subject: [xtm-wg] FYI: Updates on topicmaps.bond.edu.au

Hi,

Since the hellmouth has closed (read: the teaching trimester ended),
I had some time to do the following on our local topic map server:

  - the topic map about Topic Maps

      http://topicmaps.bond.edu.au/tm/topic.mc/m-xtm%23t-topic-maps

has many more topics, among them papers, more software...less bugs,
but I am still lagging behind reality (not that I want to overtake).

  - the resource section now uses the topic map about Topic Maps

      http://topicmaps.bond.edu.au/resources.mc

  - experimentally, I have added Lars' XML tools monster topic map

http://topicmaps.bond.edu.au/tm/topic.mc/m-xmltools%23TMTT_Category

It is HUGE and takes quite some time to parse into memory
for my poor P100 MMX, 64MB Linux server. Anyway, the map loaded
    without a hitch.

  - my Bond classes created some topic maps:

    Internet Technology I:

      http://topicmaps.bond.edu.au/examples/inft11130@011/

    System Security:

      http://topicmaps.bond.edu.au/examples/inft13332@011/

Many of these maps ARE NOT XTM conformant. I wanted students
more to concentrate on the content, than on syntax.

    Aside from our local tutorials

       http://topicmaps.bond.edu.au/tutorials.mc

I also gave about 4 hours lectures covering topic map issues.
I had no time to analyse all maps, but some of them seem to
    be quite useful.

  - my first feeble attempts to define deployment scenarios, very
    sketchy yet.

Bond University recently got a generous grant from Sun which enables
us to upgrade the TM server to a clustered Ultra V solution eventually.
Aside from throwing hardware at a solution we will reorganize our
server software to be much more performant that the existing orthodox
implementation which basically follows the XTM syntax.

\rho

PS: I'm still in the process of catching up with my email, so please
bear
with me if I have not answered yet.
