Check http://k42.empolis.co.uk/

empolis implemented its draft of the Topic Map
Querly Language TMQL in its XTM product k42.
Even more powerful is the JAVA API of the engine -
it provides read/write/update access to the complete
TM on the conceptual level of XTM. You can get a
free download at the mentioned URL.

Here is an example how (empolis) TMQL works:

In natural language:
Which operas were composed by Germans
	influenced by Mozart?

In more formal style:
	All topics of type "Opera"
	which were composed by "Persons"
	which were influenced by "Mozart"
	and born in "Germany"?

eTMQL:
	SELECT topic x WHERE
	 x instance_of topic named "Opera"
	AND
x in (assoc template_is assoctemp named "composed by") has
topic person instance_of topic named "Person"
	AND
person in (role named "influenced person") in
(assoc template_is assoctemp named "influenced by") has
(role named "influencing person") has topic named "Mozart"
	AND
person in (assoc template_is assoctemp named "born in") has
	 topic named "Germany"
