And likewise, I'm not a lawyer, I don't play one on television or even
at home in bed (don't ask). I did author the copyright and "TopicMaps.Org[TM]
Intellectual Property License and Legal Disclaimers" web page located at

  http://www.topicmaps.org/copyright.html

This page is the target of the "Copyright" link on the XTM 1.0 Spec,
and was based on IPR notices from the W3C and was posted in lieu of 
having one created by a lawyer. To my knowledge, it is as legally-
binding as one created by a lawyer, and the statements of copyright
and trademarks are sufficient protection within the US. You don't 
need to register a trademark in order to claim it. We didn't have a 
lawyer available to us at the time of publication, so this is what
we have posted online (and have since public posting of the specs).
If this company is in violation of the statements on either the XTM
spec or this web page, we should notify them of this.
