Subject: RE: [ubl-dev] UBL-Order and Freight Instructions
Michael, In all likelihood, shipping instructions pertain to the entire order and can be put into the freeform notes field. On the other hand, you may find from your business users that shipping instructions include information that is provided for elsewhere in the order standard. For example, below are a specific company's "shipping instructions" data fields and, for example, its data field data "Forwarder to be used" is in fact provided for in the UBL component "Freight Forwarder Party." Therefore, it may be beneficial to align shipping instructions with the appropriate component rather than toss them in the free text comment bucket. Fulton Wilcox Colts Neck Solutions LLC 1. Our faxed Purchase Order includes a multi-line field called Freight Instructions. I am seeking clarification from the business what they mean by this. From my looking at it, the best UBL analogue appears to be /ord:Order/cac:Delivery/cac:Despatch and its components. But if the business wants the ability to write free-form instructions there appears to be no place for that. I thought of using /ord:Order/cbc:Note but it is already earmarked for general information relating to the order as a whole. Have I missed something obvious?
