In UBL 2.0 the location coordinate is only in Address and only as an optional singleton. It remains an optional singleton in UBL 2.1. One example I heard for UBL 2.1 is the need to specify a region of a wharf. Using GPS coordinates one could specify that a delivery be made to a particular area within a location more generally identified. What comes to my mind is aggregates. A delivery of aggregates may need to be at a location not easily specified in any way other than by an area specified by points. One example of an ambiguity is what to do with exactly three points? That uniquely defines a triangle and uniquely defines a circle: there is only one triangle with apexes at the three points and there is only one circle that goes through all three points. Which is it to be? The description field can be used, or two trading partners can use business rules in their agreement to agree on how to interpret the points. I hope this helps. . . . . . . . . . . . Ken -- Contact us for world-wide XML consulting & instructor-led training Crane Softwrights Ltd. http://www.CraneSoftwrights.com/o/ G.
