Proposed UOML TC Identification of similar work & List of contributions

Dear all:

Thanks for your comments on UOML TC discussion; and I hope you all enjoy the process of forming the TC.

For the topic “Non-normative information regarding the startup of the TC”, here two items of that will be involved following and others for next time:

1. Proposed UOML TC Identification of similar or applicable work

[Identification of similar or applicable work that is being done in other OASIS TCs or by other organizations, why there is a need for another effort in this area and how this proposed TC will be different, and what level of liaison will be pursued with these other organizations]

Differences from ODF TC

a). UOML deals with layout-based formatting information, ODF deals with content-based formatting information.

b). UOML limits functions to abstract from paper, ODF has rich functions

c). UOML defines operation interface, ODF defines storage format

To sum up, UOML and ODF are designed for different purpose, resolve different problems.

2. Proposed UOML TC List of contributions of existing technical work

[Optionally, a list of contributions of existing technical work that the proposers anticipate will be made to this TC.]

Sursen launches the standard to provide the best way for document interoperation.

Four UOML Alliance members have also made the contributions to it:

Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences;

HanWang Technology Co.

TRS Information Technology Co.

Redflag Chinese 2000 Software Co.
