Subject: Issue 122 - WS-Discovery - MessageNumber rollover
This issue is assigned the number 122. For further
discussions on this issue, please refer to this issue number or use this
thread. From: Dan Driscoll WS-Discovery does not describe what to do when MessageNumber
exceeds its value space. I propose adding text that senders should
increment InstanceId to avoid exhausting MessageNumber. /s:Envelope/s:Header/d:AppSequence/@MessageNumber Identifies a message within the
context of a sequence identifier and an instance identifier. MUST be
incremented by >= 1 for each message sent. Upon
rollover, InstanceId SHOULD be incremented to preserve ordering
semantics. Transport-level retransmission MUST preserve this
value. Typically InstanceId should not be arbitrarily incremented,
but MessageNumber rollover is unlikely, and this behavior would be valuable in
this end case. |
