You are right - the member lists Sally
worked from were this year's. To get the comprehensive member list
including those who were members starting back in 2003, we need to get
history. I've asked and OASIS has no way to give us cumulative information.
I asked if they could at least collect all the names from the attendance
records, but that was right before the email outage so I know the priority
is low.
Please go ahead and put the names of
the editors who are not current members on the second list of previous
members.
For the historic info, I actually have
spreadsheets for most of the 2004-now timeframe. I "just"
need to sort and merge them. For 2003, I suspect I need to get the
data from the attendance records on the web site and extrapolate on which
people became members. Let me know if you have other ideas or want
to spend some time attempting it.
Thanks.

Another issue with the draft
list of members in the spread sheet is that some editors are not included
the members list. It seems to me that list has too many errors. It will
be easier to use few OASIS membership lists (at least two per year starting
in 2003 – that will give us eight lists). Then we can remove the observers
and merge those lists into a single list. I’m willing to do it, if I get
the lists from OASIS (so far we only have two from 2006).

Diane,
Few comments and/or questions:
1- Checking the list of editors
with the Revision history, it turns out three people in the revision list
are not in the editors list. I will add them to the editors list (Alejandro
Guízar, Mark Ford, and Rania Khalaf).
2- In the spread sheet the
draft page, contains several people that have never been members (they
were or are observers). To implement the motion, we will need at least
few more rosters from the beginning of the working group. I still not clear
what to do in here.
3- Following the template,
I will move the Notices section before the table of content.

Subject: [wsbpel-spec-edit] member list in spec
Hi Mike,
Second question first - the standard faults section should be Appendix
A.
On the first question, we passed a motion on who to include in the member
list. (see: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/wsbpel/email/archives/200606/msg00206.html
) Here it is:
This is the methodology we decided on on today's call for determining inclusion
in Appendix J:.
In the acknowledgement appendix, create 2 sub-sections: 1 listing current
members and voting members, and 2) listing anyone that was a member/voting
member in the past but is no longer (exlude all observers)
This should be effective as of today and including any new members/voting
members
Member affiliation on the ack list will be determined according to the
following:
1 current affilaiton for those still on the roster
2 affiliation shown on the roster at the time they were members for those
no longer on the roster
3 personal request to have affiliation changed
Also, anyone who requests to be removed from this list will be removed.
Sally has started the work of updating hte list of members. Here
is the last email she sent on this with a spreadsheet she put together.
I need to go back and check that we've picked up people who were
members earlier and have left the group/oasis but haven't had time to do
that.
Attached is a member list for inclusion in the specification. It reflects
the ground rules outlined in Diane's email of June 28. That date becomes
the dividing line for the 2 sheets 1) current members and 2) membership
at some time in the life of the committee.
I have added people based on emails from Monica & Alex. I have not
received any emails from any one else. However Peter raised the issue of
listing multiple affliations. A decision needs to be made on that, including
how many affliations & what order (current with 1 prior affliation,
the affiliation started with and 1 or more additional ones).
Based on my time on the TC the list has some anomolies in it but I have
no access to records to resolve questions.
Sorry I had to leave the call early. Let me know if there is anything else
I can do.
Sally
Also, if you have the time, could you verify that all the people who have
made updates to the spec per the change log are in the editors list please?
Thanks.

Few other questions:
1- With respect to updating the list of members, I understand that I should
take the list of members from the OASIS wsbpel roster and merge it with
the list in the specification. Is this the correct procedure? And second,
should I use the complete wsbpel roster including observers?
2- The current specification has section that starts with letters (for
example: “A. Standard Faults”). The OASIS template uses the word Appendix
in those cases (for example: “Appendix A. Standard Faults”). Should I
go ahead and do that change?

Thanks Mike. Please note the additional comment from Mary that's
not included in action item 62 -
Apparently the Word file has lost its styles (page breaks, running footers,
etc.) Check out the word templates at docs.oasis-open.org/templates/ ...
I think you have the right bits, but the actual style information seems
to have been lost? Let me know if you help and I'll see what I can do.
If the OASIS template doesn't provide enough information, let me know and
we can get back to her for specifics on what they want.
After the call on Wed, we'll have to incorporate the xsd and then circulate
to the committee for approval of the candiate for public review.

I can take the pen, and do action item 62, starting on Monday afternoon.
I can have the pen for two days until Wednesday afternoon. I should be
able to complete action item 62 and update the member list.

Hi
The pen is idle - any volunteers? Other than the xsd and member
list to finish and incorporate, I think we're close to done. I sent
the last CD to Mary at OASIS to have her review it and her comments are
below (also see action item 62 - only open one now!).

Hi Diane,
Thanks for asking :-) Let's do a couple of things.
1. location: let's use a persistent URI such as http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsbpel/v2.0/
When it's ready, you upload it to Kavi and send me the link, and I'll upload
to docs.oasis-open.org
2. Status: Please use the template boilerplate text as follows:
This document was last revised or
approved by the WS-BPEL TC on the above date. The level of approval is
also listed above. Check the current location noted above for possible
later revisions of this document. This document is updated periodically
on no particular schedule.
Technical Committee members should
send comments on this specification to the Technical Committee’s email
list. Others should send comments to the Technical Committee by using the
“Send A Comment” button on the Technical Committee’s web page at www.oasis-open.org/committees/wsbpel.
For information on whether any patents
have been disclosed that may be essential to implementing this specification,
and any offers of patent licensing terms, please refer to the Intellectual
Property Rights section of the Technical Committee web page ( www.oasis-open.org/committees/wsbpel/ipr.php.)
The non-normative errata page for
this specification is located at www.oasis-open.org/committees/wsbpel.
3. Update the Notices section to
match the template boilerplate:
http://docs.oasis-open.org/templates/OASIS_Specification_Template_v2-0_Legacy.html
-- Notices section
4. Remove section G (this is covered in the Status section)
Is the TC authoring the spec in HTML? If not, I'll need that version as
well. I can't check the running footers in the HTML version.
I should be able to make the meeting on the 16th; I don't think there's
any changes in the process that would impact BPEL going forward. The biggest
change is around new charter intake and specs will be required to be submitted
in XHTML (rather than HTML). Jamie should be getting the new version uploaded
in the next few days.
Regards,
Mary

Subject: BPEL almost ready for public review
Hi Mary,
We've just approved what we think is the public review -1 committee draft:
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/19511/wsbpel-specification-draft-Aug01-2006.htm
Would you please take a look at it and let me know if there are any formatting
issues remaining.
Would it be possible for you to spend an hour with the TC - either
as part of the next call on Aug 16 (8-10am pacific) or on another date
- to go over a few process questions? I understand there are some
new process updates in progress - it would be helpful to have info on any
that may effect specs that are "in flight".
Thanks.
