Subject: RE: [xacml] We resolve ...Hi,
Thanks, Ken, for the summary.
The amount of discussion around resolutions has been surprisingly low so far. Should Hal and I interpret the silence to mean that everyone is ready to vote in favour of Tim's proposals? Should we interpret the champion-free and/or resolution-free issues as low priority, or "don't care" topics?
I look forward to further feedback on today's policy model subcommittee call and at the F2F on Wednesday and Thursday.
Carlisle.

Hi,
Thanks, Tim, for getting the ball rolling on this. I meant to say this on yesterday's call, but forgot, so I'll say it now. For each issue that we expect to discuss at the face-to-face, we need not only a champion, but also a succinct and concretely-worded resolution that we can vote on. Hopefully, much of the debate regarding the wording of the resolutions can occur prior to the meeting. But in any case, it would be great if at the meeting we have one resolution (or a small number of resolutions) for each issue so that we can hold a vote, keep the resolution that wins, and close the issue. Otherwise, the danger is that we'll spend tons of time discussing an issue but never actually vote on anything.
Tim has done a great job of putting some stakes in the ground. Let's see some counter-proposals or "friendly amendments" on these (if people have alternate opinions), and lets see some similar resolutions on some of the other issues Tim has not covered.
Carlisle.

Subject: [xacml] We resolve ...Colleagues - Here are some candidate resolutions for consideration between now and the Face-to-face. Naturally, I expect others to submit resolutions that support contradictory positions. We can use the intervening period to discuss the issues and select a subset of the resolutions for voting at the Face-to-face. Have a great weekend. All the best. Tim.
